pic 6The Reverend Anthony Lees-Smith is Vicar of Evington. Anthony came to St Denys in 2012 from a parish in Cambridge, but has local roots in the county.  Having grown up in Mountsorrel, he studied Italian and French at Cambridge, spending a year with the Anglican Chaplain in Rome where he began to explore his vocation to ordained ministry.  After a brief spell as an accountant in Oxford, he retrained as a primary school teacher and taught for several years in a large city-centre school in Peterborough.  He studied theology in Durham for three years and then in 2009 went back to Ely Diocese to be ordained and take up a post at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Arbury, North Cambridge.  Anthony is married to Wendy and they have two daughters, Erica and Hilary.  He is also a member of the country’s only fully ordained singing ensemble, Octave.

pic 9The Reverend Liz Wilson is our Assistant Curate.  Liz was ordained in June 2014.

Liz Wilson is our Assistant Curate, and she joined us in June 2014. Liz formally worked for Leicester City Council in the Arts and Museum service as Managing Curator at
New Walk Museum. She was rather surprised to be called to ordained ministry as loved working in Museums, but has discovered she loves working as a Curate even more! Liz trained for ordination at St John’s College in Nottingham and is also a trustee of The Ruach Trust a small Christian charity working with disaffected young men. Liz originally hails from Wales, so her favourite hymn is ‘Guide me O thou great Redeemer’ which she prefers to sing with a pint, in the pub, while watching the rugby.
