The Reverend Anthony Lees-Smith is Vicar of Evington. Anthony came to St Denys in 2012 from a parish in Cambridge, but has local roots in the county. Having grown up in Mountsorrel, he studied Italian and French at Cambridge, spending a year with the Anglican Chaplain in Rome where he began to explore his vocation to ordained ministry. After a brief spell as an accountant in Oxford, he retrained as a primary school teacher and taught for several years in a large city-centre school in Peterborough. He studied theology in Durham for three years and then in 2009 went back to Ely Diocese to be ordained and take up a post at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Arbury, North Cambridge. Anthony is married to Wendy and they have two daughters, Erica and Hilary. He is also a member of the country’s only fully ordained singing ensemble, Octave.
The Reverend Robin Hay is our Part-time Assistant Curate. Rob was ordained deacon in June 2017.
Rob Hay is married to Sarah and is Dad to Tom & Jacob. He is an NSM (part-time) curate at St Denys. Rob has been in full-time Christian ministry for the last 20 years, initially as a missionary in Nepal, Asia, with Sarah and for the last 15 years as lecturer and then Principal of a theological college (Redcliffe College – see www.redcliffe.ac.uk for more info), but Rob says he has lots to learn about parish life!
In his day job, he works for the Diocese of Leicester as Head of Learning and Ministry Development. Sarah is HR Manager for European Christian Mission and provides pastoral care to all the missionaries across Europe. Just like Anthony, they have a black cocker spaniel called Max who is the fifth member of the family!
