At St Denys, we try to use a variety of styles of music in a worshipping context – this ranges from the traditional stonking hymn to the more contemporary. At our regular communion services, we have several talented organists who accompany the congregation in their singing. At the more informal Worship for All services, we use a keyboard, but sometimes we have guitar, djembe drums and a selection of tambourines/shakers children can make noise on!
St Denys Choir
We are a group of passionate singers who would always welcome new members and play an active role in the worship in the church. We sing every 4th Sunday at the Communion for All Ages services. The highlight of the year is the Advent Carol Service and Nine Lessons and Carols in December, which is always a brilliant time. We sometimes sing at weddings, but also at Easter, and have enjoyed learning new, challenging repertoire for Come and Sing Evensongs in previous years.
The St Denys Junior Choir is for children aged 7 and upwards. They sing in conjunction with the adult choir every 4th Sunday of the month and are a great asset at the annual carol services.
